Looklet.com

A while ago I came across this website where you can be a virtual stylist. It literally has the webs biggest online wardrobe where you can dress your chosen model up in your dream outfit.
I can spend hours on here. It's a close favourite along with Polyvore where I make my wishlist collages :)
You can choose clothes, accessories, model, background and effects. It's like being a stylist, creative director and photographer all in one.
Here's some dream outfits for today/what I wish I was wearing right now...

Lipstick Looks

You may find this the world's most boring post ever but I just had to...

The above photo is probably my favourite lipstick ever. It's '415' by Revlon and its a Lustrous, not a matte. I'm pretty sure it has a real name too but I can't remember it right now. Anyway, you NEED to get this if you're into pink/nudes! It's really similar to YSL's Rouge Volupte 30 but less sheer and less beige which is always so it stays in place. It's also only around the £6 mark where YSL is priced at £20 (the packaging is why I buy it).

My 2nd favourite is Revlon's 440 'Cherries in the Snow'. It's also a lustre, like the 415 you don't need to wear anything over the top of it like you do with those horrible Barry M matte lipsticks that crack after 2 minutes. I love this because you get all the drama of a bright red but it doesn't totally wash you out like some reds do to my skin. I'd say it's more of a raspberry than cherry but that would be a bit of a long name...

Christmas Wishlist

This is my Christmas wishlist (well all that I could think of just now) and my mum's probably going to read this and kill me for not letting her know sooner. But it's fine. This Christmas everyone's been asking me what I'd like and it's been difficult to answer because I don't really NEED anything so I've asked for the red Topshop boots above and some other bits and bobs from my November wishlist a few posts back.
This months wishlist is just bits and pieces I'd like if I HAD to choose.
1. Premium Metallic Calf Skirt. I LOVE this. Am I right in saying there was a shorter version? Because I think I'd like that better. It's £60 which isn't that bad compared to some of the other things Topshop have in their Premium brand. I think I might buy this for myself..
2. Silver Glitter Litas. I have the black glitter Topshop Ambush boots and I love how hard wearing glitter boots are now so I'm thinking these might be an investment? Hmm... I already have the black litas and taupe suede litas so do I really need another pair?
3. Wildfox Red Heart Jumper. How cute is this!? Especially how Taylor Swift is wearing is.
4. Black Matte Polish. love love love... and I think I will wake up to this on Christmas morning :)
5. Topshop Pyramid Boots. Probably my favourite thing on this list. These have been top of my Santa list for ages and I think my dream miiiight come true.
6. Runwaydreamz Shorts. I'd be happy with anyone of the pairs. A bit pricey but perfect for holidays early next year.

Final edits!

As promised, here are a few of the final edited photos from the magazine shoto that my uni group produced on the 8th of November. Hope you like them!

All in the name of research..

Okay, so recently I've been quite interested in nails. I have the wors habit of biting them really short so I've been trying really hard to let them grow. So, naturally, I was over the moon when I recieved my November Glossybox as it contianed Nail Rock Wraps. I was even more excited when I found out I happened to get the leopard print wraps! So I tried them out..
The application for a first timer is quite daunting but after the 4th application the air bubbles and unintented folds started to subside.
Here's a photo of the final result.

Pretty cool, right?
At first, yes. A week later, not so much.
After living a normal week (doing dishes, waitressing, typing etc) the ends on the nails started to go all raggy and I had to re-apply a couple (they give you 16 wraps. Why not 20?). A couple started to split up the middle and lift at the ends. So all in all, I think that they're a good idea but.. get a profesional to do it.

My second stint of 'research' comes in the form of my first ever set of acrylics.
Being a total rookie I had absolutely no idea what to ask for. It also didn't help that the nail technician was Chinese. So anyway, I decided on 'natural acrylic tips'. I don't quite understand how the words 'natural' and 'acrylic' can exist in the same sentence. The method they applied the nails was awesome. Apart from the bit when they cut off all my real nails. The final result was incredible. I decided on an OPI polish with silver and red glitter flecks through it (I'm not sure of the name. Why didn't I check!?).
I love them and I can now say I am truely converted. I will definately be going back in 2 weeks for some Christmas nails and at only £25 who can say no?

Photoshoot

These 'backstage' photo's are from my uni groups fashion magazine shoot that we shot at a castle today.
The shoot took forever but it was so much fun and well worth getting up at 7.30am for. The castle was huge and so elegant.. we weren't allowed to touch anything but we got some really good shots and hopefully our 6 page spreads will turn out amazing. Thanks to The Closet, Cameron from the Haggard Case and our photographer Clark for helping us!
Our shoot was based around a collection of looks inspired by past fashion icons (Twiggy, Audrey Hepburn etc etc) and we shot each look in a different location around the castle like the library, dining hall, morning room and another big huge room.. maybe a ball room..? I don't know.
Once the assignment is completed and handed in I'll share the photos on my blog for you all to see before the magazine is actually published.
Anyway, I need to go and catch a train home for the week...

November 7th Wishlist

001. Mac Mineralize Skinfinish - the best powder in the world. I've gone through at least 4 of these since I first discovered it just last year. Amazing coverage that doesn't look cakey. Only problem is that I go through it really fast but I think that's only because I use a pad instead of a brush..

002. Topshop faux fur hat - Tried it on in the store and I love it. Am I willing to pay £22 for a hat though? Probably. Goes with my hair colour too!

003. Chanel L'Ombre Aux Lumieres - Not tried this product out yet but it looks awesome. Just the right pigment/glitter balance I hope.

004. Benefit Erase Paste - Just ran out of my Mac Studio Sculpt Concealer and this looks like a good alternative that I can get my hands on fast.. (there's no Mac shop in Aberdeen).

005. Nars Sheer Glow Foundation - I'm nearly about to run out of my Mac Studio Sculpt foundation. Hallelujah. Only buy it if you have really really dry skin. I have somewhat oily skin and I feel like I'm reapplying powder not stop to control the shine. I've read ALOT of reviews about the Nars product and I think I need to invest.. dewy look but no shine? Yes please.

006. Alexander Wang Anabela Boots - I don't even know what to say. Especially when they're 60% off on theoutnet.com.. only £272! Mum..?

007. Marc Jacobs iPad Sleeve - my iPad2 needs a sleeping bag.

008. Topshop Allegra Boots - I have looked EVERYWHERE for these boots. Sold out online and in every Topshop store I have phoned. Plus, the store assistant I asked said they are being discontinued. Cry.

Glossybox

This week is consolidation week at uni. I'm not quite sure what that entails but I think it's for catching up with coursework..? I've been quite hard at work recently regarding university. I have finished about 1/3 of my coursework. I think/hope. I'm sure how writing a 2000 word adversiting report on orange juice relates to my fashion course but I did it anyway and I quite enjoyed it.  2000 words always feels daunting at first but in the end I was cutting bits and bobs out to try and stick to the word count! Anyway, I completed it in only 2 days (don't know if I should be worried about this or not..?) and now it only needs some minor tweaking, I think.
Tomorrow I have a photoshoot with girls from uni at a castle somewhere up north. It's for coursework so it'll be nice to have some fun and be productive at the same time!
Okay, enough about uni. Am I boring you?

Today I did something quite out the ordinary and suscribed to something online..
It's a service called Glossybox. You pay £10 a month + £2.95 p&p  and they
send you a little gift box every month containing 5 samlple(ish) sized beauty
products that everyone's talking about.
Hopefully this will eliminate the need for endless trials and testing.. and at only
£10 per month..! Awesome. Can't wait for my 1st goodie box to be
delivered mid-November..

Entering the Blogosphere

As of today I have decided to join the crowd and start a blog..
Reasons for this are as follows:
  • I was told to by university
  • I hope it'll be fun
Anyway, I should probably introduce myself, right?
That's me above. I'm a 2nd year Fashion Management student who
studies at RGU in Aberdeen.
This blog will hopefully turn into a creative outlet where I can post
about anything and everything I feel like.. mostly concerning anything
fashion/beauty/me related.
I read alot of blogs.. I'm not going to sit and list them because you
probbably read the same ones too. I find them really interesting because
1. I'm really nosey and love to see inside other peoples lives
2. They're not the overly 'glossy' stories you read in mags
Anyway (have I said that before?), this blog will probably be pretty
self indulgent, maybe a running commentary of my life (with all the
pyjama days edited out).. but hopefully not boring.
(I hate blogs with meaninglessphotographs and posts
that are obviously are just there to fill space).

Keep checking back to find out what I'm up to...
